Thank you so much for volunteering your time this year! Our organization wouldn’t be where it is without your support. Now that we are officially a licensed club, we must meet a comprehensive set of requirements from BC Soccer. One key requirement is that each age group must have at least one coach who has completed the designated ‘Head Coach’ course, even in a 50/50 co-coaching arrangement.
The following courses are MANDATORY for all HEAD coaches within six months.
An online theory course that pertains to your specific age group
Respect in Sport
NCCP Making Ethical Decisions
NCCP Making Headway in Soccer Concussions
NCCP Emergency Action Plan
NCCP Rule of Two
A practical in-person session to follow. This will be organized by the association later in the season.
ASSISTANT Coaches are just required to have the following:

The theory portion is as follows:
All Age Groups: Coaching Soccer in Canada (1hr 6min)
U6 - Active Start (48min)
U7-U9: Fundamentals (32min)
U10-U13: Learn to Train (21min)
U14-U18: Soccer for Life (42min)
As far as parent helpers are concerned, they will require a Criminal Record Check. Helpers are only allowed to supplement the coaches practice by doing things like setting up and retrieving equipment or helping guide kids in the direction of the coaches. If a parent helper would like to become more involved in hands-on coaching, they will need to complete the courses mentioned above.
The association will pay for all certifications needed, but we ask that you submit all your receipts together—once all courses have been completed. Upon purchase of these courses, make sure to KEEP ALL YOUR RECEIPTS.
